Aboubacar Camara beat Luca Marinelli off a mad scramble in the 82nd minute as the Portland Hearts of Pine edged WSC 2-1 Sunday night in Maine, the latest in a series of painful close losses for Westchester to start September.
Diego Gonzalez had given Portland a 1-0 lead off a penalty conversion just 11 minutes into the match, but Charlie Dickerson’s first career score at the 66th minute mark knotted the match and silenced the crowd, setting up Camara’s late heroics.
The loss continued the tough trends that have marked the second season for WSC, as it dropped them to 0-15-6 in their last 21 road matches, and 1-9 in one goal decisions as they head to table leader Charlotte next Saturday.
