What started as a promising stretch to rise in the table ended with a second straight disappointing loss on Wednesday, as Omar Hernandez beat keeper Luca Marinelli in the 35th minute, and the Chattanooga Red Wolves made the lone score stand up for a 1-0 road win Wednesday night in Mt. Vernon.
The loss marked the first time WSC has dropped consecutive home matches this season, where they are now 6-4-2 at home. It also dropped them to 1-8 in one goal decisions this season, and spoiled another solid effort for Marinelli, who in 13 of 17 starts WSC has scored just one goal or fewer. It was also the fifth time he had suffered a 1-0 loss this season.
The club now hits the road for their next two matches, Sunday at Portland and September 12 at Charlotte.
