Westchester Soccer Club has officially introduced their new mascot Hutch, a ram created to represent the team’s fighting spirit and give their fans an additional way to connect with the club.
Behind the Design
Hutch is short for Hutchinson, a reference to the Hutchinson River Parkway, the road that leads to Westchester SC home stadium, Memorial Field. Hutch’s look evolved from a design contest as the ram was a recurring theme throughout many submissions.
The club embraced the idea of the ram.
“We feel it represents how we want to fight – together and proud and putting our heads down to accomplish the task at hand,” said Ari Kwitkin-Close, Chief Revenue Officer for Westchester SC.
Connection with the County
For Westchester SC, Hutch is meant to be more than just a game day mascot. His role is to create bonds with the fans, be a friendly face, increase the spirit throughout the stadium, and give fans the best photo op around.
During Hutch’s unveiling at Westchester SC’s Camp Day, he spent the day engaging with kids. Before the match, he was signing autographs, taking photos, and fist bumping fans. During the match, Hutch was up in the stands with the kids to further tighten the Westchester SC community and create a fun and vibrant environment for the fans.
Where to see Hutch
There will be many opportunities to see Hutch at Westchester SC events that go beyond home games. This summer, Hutch has already attended the World Cup Final watch party at Kensico Dam as well as the huge match against the New York Cosmos.
The club says fans can expect to see Hutch at all Westchester SC community events. This consistency is exactly what the club wants to emphasize. Through repeated appearances at different events, Hutch is able to expand these one-off interactions into real relationships and connections with the community. Fans are getting to know the mascot instead of having one encounter and moving on. As fans are becoming more familiar with Hutch, they also begin to see Westchester SC as more than just a team they watch in their free time and as a part of their meaningful community.

When asked what he would say to the fans right now, Hutch had a simple answer: “I can’t wait to see everyone at the games and show the true spirit of Westchester!”
As Westchester SC continues to build its identity on community, Hutch is becoming one of the most valuable connections to the fans and creating a stronger club after every interaction.
