Westchester Soccer Club (1-2-1 USL League One, 2-0 US Open Cup) dominated this week’s USL League One Team of the Week, placing three members and first year head coach George Gjokaj on the list, the first time in the club’s two year history a trio have been named to the squad in the same week.
WSC returns to action this Wednesday night against the expansion Sarasota Paradise before hosting their first MLS club, NYCFC, next Tuesday, April 14 in Lamar Hunt US Open Cup action at the Stadium at Memorial Field.

This week’s honorees:
D – Noah Powder, Westchester SC (Edison, NJ) : The Trinidad and Tobago international recorded one assist and recorded 39 of 44 passes while winning 3 of 4 ground duels and making four recoveries, two interceptions and three clearances in Westchester’s victory against Corpus Christi.
M – Conor McGlynn, Westchester SC (Middle Village, NY) : The 27-year-old scored a pair of goals and completed 35 of 37 passes while making six clearances, two interceptions and two recoveries in Westchester’s 5-1 victory against Corpus Christi FC. McGlynn now has four goals in league games, which is atop the scoring table in the early going. Saturday was his first two goal game of his career.
M – Jonathan Jiménez, Westchester SC (Jiquilpan, Mexico): The 24-year-old scored once and notched two shots overall while completing 28 of 33 passes, recording one chance created and winning one penalty kick in WSC’s club-record victory against Corpus Christi FC.

Coach – George Gjokaj, Westchester SC: Gjokaj’s squad posted a club-record 5-1 victory against Corpus Christi FC on Saturday night as the side recorded nine shots on target and created three big chances for the side’s first league win of the season.

Quick Turns At Home: Wednesday marks the second of four home matches in a five match stretch, with a match at expansion Boise in between on April 18. Seven of their last nine home matches have been decided by one goal.
Youngest, Fastest and First: The early season has brought WSC some new milestones. Dean Guezen’s goal vs Charlotte just 45 seconds into the match was the fastest in club history, while Kyle Evans became the youngest goal scorer in club history with his stoppage-time finish against One Knoxville in the opener, notching his first professional goal aged 20 years, 146 days old, surpassing the mark of Ermin Mackic (20 years, 174 days). Andrew Hammersley (Middle Village, NY) also notched his first career clean sheet against NY Renegades in US Open Cup play and Matias Molina matched it with a clean sheet at Vermont in Round Two.

New Faces Make Debuts. Westchester Soccer Club has a decidedly young and local look in 2026 as new Head Coach and General Manager George Gjokaj has at least 14 athletes with local roots on the potential opening day roster. Four newcomers…Maximus Jennings (Montclair, NJ/Georgetown), Daniel Burko (Løvenstad, Norway/Hofstra), Charlie Dickerson (Norwich, England/Providence) and Kyle Evans (Rock Hill, NY/Marist),…have started all five USL League One matches thus far.
The others: Goalkeeper: Mattias Molina (Rosario, Argentina/Seton Hall), Defenders: Aleksei Armas (Florham Park, NY/Hofstra and Adelphi), Tim Timchenko (Kyiv, Ukraine/Iona), Mo Williams (West Orange, NJ/Notre Dame/Seton Hall), Midfielders: Aiden Borra (Syosset, NY/Sacred Heart and St. John’s), Forwards: Daniel Burko (Løvenstad, Norway/Hofstra), Miguel Diaz (Brooklyn, NY/St. John’s).
The 10 newcomers join 14 returnees on the WSC preseason roster. Amongst the returning players, Goalkeeper Andrew Hammersley (Garden City, NY/Sacred Heart), Defender Noah Powder (Edison, NJ), Midfielder Conor McGlynn (Middle Village, NY/Siena College), and Forwards Ermin Mackic (Yonkers NY/SUNY Purchase), and Samory Powder (Edison, NJ) also have ties to the New York area.
