Home Is Where We Start: Saturday ends an extended home stretch of seven matches at The Stadium at Memorial Field in the first nine overall matches of the year (including two of three US Open Cup matches at home) for WSC. It will also be the club’s first match of the season in the Prinx Tires USL Cup Series, after going 0-4 in USL Cup Group play last season. In USL League One home play thus far, WSC enters Saturday with a three match unbeaten streak and a 2-1-1 mark with the only loss being a tight 3-2 loss to defending champion One Knoxville on opening night, March 7. Since then WSC has outscored its league opponents at home 8-2, which includes the club’s two year high mark for goals in a single game, 5 vs. Corpus Christi on April 4.

Boise Snaps WSC Streak: Denys Kostyshyn scored a pair of goals on either side of halftime, at 21 minutes and the 54 minute mark to lead Athletic Club Boise to a 4-0 home win last Saturday night over WSC. Robinson Moshobane beat keeper Andrew Hammersley 16 minutes into the contest to give Boise a 1-0 lead, and Luan Brito’s score in the 69th minute closed out the onslaught, as Boise outshot WSC 13-9 and blanked them for the first time this season. WSC is now 0-2 on the road in league play thus far, having dropped their opener 4-2 at Greenville on March 29. It was just the fourth time in the two seasons of play WSC had allowed 4 or more goals in a game…the most was a 5-2 home loss to AV Alta last June.
Despite the shutout, WSC as a team still leads the league in scoring with 12 goals, and are tied in conversion rate at 22%

Last Season vs. Portland: Portland went 1-0-1 vs. WSC in ’25. JC Obergon’s direct kick in the 90th minute gave WSC a 2-2 tie at the Portland Hearts of Pine on October 18. In their first matchup, WSC drew first blood at Memorial Stadium on August 24, with Ermin Mackic beating keeper Hunter Morse just 16 minutes into the match to give the home standers the early lead. Portland countered just ten minutes later when Titus Washinton beat Andrew Hammersley off a scramble in the front of the net, and Portland grabbed the lead ten minutes later on a Oliver Ephraim Wright shot in the 36th minute. They extended the lead to 3-1 eight minutes later on a Nathan Igor Messer shot, but WSC countered when play came back, with Prince Saydee scoring on a 35 yard strike in the 45th minute, his fourth goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 3-2 at the break. WSC played the last 19 minutes of the match down a man, and could not find the equalizer.
McGlynn, Guezen Burst Through: WSC’s early season growth has been fueled by its young players, as both midfielders Conor McGlynn (Middle Village, NY) and Guezen (Amsterdam, Netherlands) continue to emerge as the leaders on the young WSC squad.
