Road Work: Saturday will be the second WSC road match of the season following Tuesday night’s 5-2 home loss to NYCFC in Lamar Hunt US Open Cup play. . WSC dropped their opener 4-2 at Greenville on March 29, and finished the ’25 season 2-8-5 on the road, and 3-13-3 against clubs holding a playoff spot. That includes wins at Madison and Texoma and a 4-4 tie at Richmond, which is the club’s high mark for goals scored on the road.
In USL League One Play: Dean Guezen had the first two goal night of his young career, finding the back of net first off a feed from Jonathan Jimenez and then off a rebound of a Kyle Evans shot, both in the second half, as WSC rolled to their second straight home win, blanking Sarasota Paradise 2-0 last Wednesday night in Mt. Vernon. WSC dominated most of the game despite being down a man after Max Jennings was issued as second yellow card and was ejected from the match in the 61st minute just after WSC had broken on top. Guezen then beat keeper Alexander Sutton to extend to a 2-0 advantage in the 61st minute, to extend a WSC lead they did not relinquish. Andrew Hammersley turned in another solid game in goal for WSC, as one of the league leaders in saves at this early going faced 10 shots, turning back three to notch his first clean sheet of his career in USL League One play, and second of the season (including a shutout of NY Renegades in US Open Cup).

Great Guezen: USL League One announced midfielder Dean Guezen was voted Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball after recording a pair of goals in his side’s victory against Sarasota Paradise last Wednesday night. A holdover from Westchester’s inaugural season in League One, the Dutch midfielder recorded his first two-goal game for the club against Sarasota, striking twice in the second half to lead his side to a 2-0 win. Guezen opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half moving in at the back post to turn home Jonathan Jiménez’s pass across the top of the six-yard area. He then doubled the lead midway through the half, following up to tuck home the rebound from close range after Kyle Evans’ initial shot. Guezen’s goal vs Charlotte earlier in the season just 45 seconds into the match was the fastest in club history.

More Early Season Honors: WSC placed four members on the USL League One Team of the week in week five, the first time in club history, following their 5-1 home win over Corpus Christi, the most goals scored in their short club history. They were: D – Noah Powder, (Edison, NJ) : The Trinidad and Tobago international recorded one assist and recorded 39 of 44 passes while winning 3 of 4 ground duels and making four recoveries, two interceptions and three clearances in Westchester’s victory against Corpus Christi. M – Conor McGlynn, (Middle Village, NY) : The 27-year-old scored a pair of goals and completed 35 of 37 passes while making six clearances, two interceptions and two recoveries in Westchester’s 5-1 victory against Corpus Christi FC. McGlynn now has four goals in league games, which is atop the scoring table in the early going. Saturday was his first two goal game of his career, and M – Jonathan Jiménez, (Jiquilpan, Mexico): The 24-year-old scored once and notched two shots overall while completing 28 of 33 passes, recording one chance created and winning one penalty kick in WSC’s club-record victory against Corpus Christi FC. Additionally George Gjokajwas named Coach of the Week for his first career USL League One win.
McGlynn, Guezen Burst Through: WSC’s early season growth has been fueled by its young players, as both midfielders Conor McGlynn (Middle Village, NY) and Guezen (Amsterdam, Netherlands) continue to emerge as the leaders on the young WSC squad. Both now have four goals in league games, which are atop the scoring table in the early going. Guezen’s two goal match against Sarasota was the first of his USL career, while McGlynn’s at home vs Corpus Christi in the prior match was his first two goal game.
Youngest, Fastest and First: The early season has brought WSC some new milestones. Dean Guezen’s goal vs Charlotte just 45 seconds into the match was the fastest in club history, while Kyle Evans became the youngest goalscorer in club history with his stoppage-time finish against One Knoxville in the opener, notching his first professional goal aged 20 years, 146 days old, surpassing the mark of Ermin Mackic (20 years, 174 days). Andrew Hammersley also notched his first career clean sheet against NY Renegades in US Open Cup play and Matias Molina matched it with a clean sheet at Vermont in Round Two.

Close Shaves Still Cut Deep: The one goal loss in the opener to Knoxville continued a pattern for WSC from their inaugural season, when they went 2-14-7 when they entered the second 45 either tied or behind and were 2-11 in one goal w/l decisions. WSC’s longest winless streak (excluding their 3-0 forfeit win over Spokane on July 16) was a 12 match streak which started after a 2-1 win at Forward Madison on June 18 and ended with a 2-1 win over Texoma on Sept. 21. That stretch included six one goal losses and three ties.
New Faces Make Debuts: Westchester Soccer Club has a decidedly young and local look in 2026 as new Head Coach and General Manager George Gjokaj has at least 14 athletes with local roots on the potential opening day roster. Four newcomers…Maximus Jennings (Montclair, NJ/Georgetown), Daniel Burko (Løvenstad, Norway/Hofstra), Charlie Dickerson (Norwich, England/Providence) and Kyle Evans (Rock Hill, NY/Marist),…have started all four USL League One matches thus far.
