Talles Magno converted on a penalty in the 25th minute, beating keeper Andrew Hammersley to the low left corner to give NYCFC a 2-1 lead on their way to an eventual 5-2 lead in Mt. Vernon on Tuesday night, ending WSC’s Lamar Hunt US Open Cup run in the round of 32.

Agustín Ojeda’s right footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner in the 15th minute gave NCYFC the early 1-0 lead, but WSC knotted the score just seven minutes later, when Daniel Burko’s right footed shot from very close range to the top left corner off an assist by Maximus Jennings knotted the score. Magno broke the deadlock less than 10 minutes later, and Magno’s second consecutive score, a left footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner off an assist by Agustín Ojeda in the 36th minute extended it to 3-1. Arnau Farnós extended the lead to 4-1 just before the break, and Magno’s third score in the 70th minute extended the lead to 5-1.

WSC got one back in the 73rd minute, when Kyle Evans right footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner set the final margin before a crowd of 5,145.
